NOTICE TO ALL PARENTS AND YOUTH SHOOTERS: Due to the great weather we have experienced so far this year, our junior program has been up and running for a few weeks and we’ve enjoyed seeing some new faces. The Van Dyne Sportsmens club applied for and received a grant from Friends of the NRA for this year’s youth shooting program. It does not eliminate the cost for our youth shooters, but it does help offset some of the cost for the parents. We are always looking for sponsorships and donations to help with costs to encourage participation from our next generation of shooters. The junior program runs Wednesday evenings from 5:00 pm until everyone has had their fill of shooting - weather permitting. Don’t be afraid of getting a late start - we will accept new youth throughout the summer and into fall. We have two NRA/ATA coaches providing the knowledge necessary to excel in shooting sports. The basic requirements to participate are a hunter safety certificate and wiliness to learn. Remember our club and many other’s depend on youth for our very survival. So the more kids we expose to shooting sports the longer club’s like ours and many more will grow. If you’re interested and have any questions, you can contact Don “lumpy” Lamson 920-688-3378 or Marlin Wege 920-420-7000 and as always the Van Dyne Sportsmens Club at 920-688-2433. SPECIAL NOTE: We would like to thank Officer Dave Johnson and the coaches at Omro’s Springbrook Gun Club for allowing Van Dyne’s youth to participate in the local high school shooting team activities. Dave has started something good for area youth, with many shooter’s gaining experience in competitive shooting. Combining both clubs has been very successful and we intend to help with this program in whatever way we can. |
Mid-Wisconsin Traveling League Once again Van Dyne will be participating in the Mid-Wisconsin traveling league. This the same league we have been involved for the last 5 to 6 years. I would like to thank all of the shooters that attended last year’s shoots. The same 8 clubs are involved this year . This league is open to all skill levels and a way to meet some very nice people along the way. It’s also a good chance to shoot at some other area clubs to maybe see if someone has some idea’s to improve our club. We had excellent participation last and I hope to continue that this year. Sign up boards will be posted in the club house for you to sign up. You may attend 1 or all 9 shoots it all depends on your interest level. You also may sign a whole team of 5 if you wish and you don’t have to be a member of Van Dyne to get involved. The cost will be the same as last year $4.00 per shooter for 50 targets. Awesome deal Dates:
Any question please contact Don “lumpy” Lamson or Brian Davis for more information |
What should you do if you witness a Club Safey Rules violation? This has been the most frequently ask question by club members lately. We understand that confronting someone and pointing out their blunder is not an easy thing for most people. However we would like to see you do it because whatever they are doing is jeopardizing YOUR use of the club’s facilities at the very least and at the worst is jeopardizing the clubs very existence so it needs to be stopped immediately. If they get verbally abusive just walk away and report it to the Safety Committee using the guidelines below. If you do not feel comfortable approaching violators you should at the very least report the violator to the Safety Committee (their names, telephone numbers and email addresses are listed on the bulletin board in the range house). Make a note of the violation, date, time, the violator’s membership number (can be obtained from the sign-in sheet), and the license plate number of the vehicle they are driving. We have the resources to obtain names and addresses from license plates! If you choose to remain anonymous we understand that also! As members of the club you have the responsibility and authority to ask any person on the club grounds for their membership card. This is the foundation that the off hours program of open use (non-supervised) was built on, members policing members. If they refuse to show you their membership card write down their license plate number and contact the Safety Committee. A member who refuses to show you his/her membership card will have their membership suspended. |
